CLASSES & SCHEDULE

Learn to sail on beautiful Lake Charlevoix in a safe and well supervised program. Over 450 student-sailors participated during last year's Sailing School.

Ages: 8-19 years old

Classes:
Three weeks in Boyne City @ City Marina
Six weeks in Charlevoix @ Depot Beach

Sessions:
Two each day - Morning and Afternoon

Requirements:
Students must have the ability to swim efficiently.
Shirts, swimsuits and shoes are to be worn at all times
PFD (Personal Flotation Device) shall be worn always while on the water - bring your own PFD or one will be provided.

Safety:
Is of utmost importance at the 4-H Youth Sailing School!
US Coast Guard approved PDF's are used.
Power safety boats are always out on the water.
Communications are via on-board VHF radios.

Certification:
Our instructors are trained and certified by US Sailing. They also each hold American Red Cross and/or American Heart Association First Aid and CPR Certifications.

Awards:
Sailing achievement award will be given following the successful completion of a week's class session.

Registration Fees 2012
Out of County Students: $90.00
Charlevoix County Students:* $50.00 (Public, private or home schooled)
Race Class: $45

*Our Charlevoix County area businesses generously donate funds to help underwrite some of the registration costs for local students.

Scholarships are also available for low income households. Please call the Charlevoix County MSU Extension office at 231-582-6232 for eligibility questions.

There is a 4-H $7 Participation Fee per child or $30 per family of 3 or more. This fee is paid only once per year and entitles your child access to all 4-H programs.
